Renars Geslers, 32, has admitted to stabbing his mother to death and is awaiting sentencing.
His mother, Agita Geslers, 61, was found on 25 May in a property on Brierfield Close after emergency services were contacted at 12:30pm.
Mr Geslers, of Hoyle Mill Road, Barnsley, was charged with her murder and appeared at Sheffield Crown court in October in front of Sheffield Judge Jeremy Richardson to deny the charges.
He has admitted to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility, a plea accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service following medical reports that revealed he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
Mr Geslers will be sentenced on 28 January 2022 at 2pm.
