72-year-old woman injured trying to stop Walkley attack

A 72-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after trying to stop a group assault on a 45-year-old man.

Police were called at 7:30pm on Wednesday 5 May to reports of an attack on Carr Road in Walkley.

They said: “It is reported that a group of individuals were witnessed assaulting a 45-year-old man. A 72-year-old woman attempted to intervene and suffered minor injuries.”

“The woman later suffered a medical episode and was taken to hospital via ambulance to receive treatment. She has since been discharged.”

Four people were arrested in connection with the attack, two 18-year-old women, a 17-year old girl and a 22-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm without intent.
