{"id":73074,"date":"2025-04-28T15:43:47","date_gmt":"2025-04-28T14:43:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=73074"},"modified":"2025-04-28T16:53:21","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T15:53:21","slug":"peddlers-of-drugs-will-be-punished-sheffield-dealers-receive-combined-15-year-sentence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/04\/28\/peddlers-of-drugs-will-be-punished-sheffield-dealers-receive-combined-15-year-sentence\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield dealers laugh as they receive combined 15 year sentence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Three individuals were sentenced today for supply of heroin and crack cocaine for a combined total of 15 years at Sheffield Crown Court.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Three Heroin and Cocaine Dealers sentenced to 15 years - Sheffield Crown Court - Sheffield Wire\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OAfWcwe8rs4?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Tommy Maughan, 21, of Badger Close, Sheffield and Kai Bean, 21 of Tithebarn Avenue Sheffield, alongside another 17 year old male who can\u2019t be named due to his age were involved in a drug ring between July 2023-24. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Richardson KC called the sentencing decisions a \u201csacrifice on the altar of deterrence\u201d as he handed out sentences to the smiling Mr Maughan, who laughed with the 17 year old male defendant as their sentences were given.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maughan was sentenced to six years imprisonment for supplying heroin and cocaine from July of 2023-24, with two charges of dangerous driving, wounding with intent, assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bean was sentenced to six years in a young offenders institution for supplying cocaine and heroin from a similar time period, with the 17 year old male sentenced to three years imprisonment for his involvement in the drug ring.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trio received reduced sentences due to their ages and guilty pleas, said Judge Richardson, but the abuse of addicted individuals, as well as previous convictions did aggravate the sentencing, in what he called a \u201cpernicious example of drug trade\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judge Richardson continued, \u201cthis type of crime is often the foundation of other avenues of criminality and sabotages the lives of addicts. Peddlers of drugs will be punished appropriately.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unnamed 17 year old was also found not guilty on four charges of holding a person in slavery or servitude. Users&#8217; homes were used to store and supply the drugs, with 1.23Kg of crack cocaine and 1.4Kg of heroin being sold from July 2023-24, with a street value in excess of \u00a3250,000, the court heard.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maughan was deemed to be the main perpetrator, being found guilty of wounding with intent upon one of his associates, beating the man with his own walking aid, alongside assaulting a police officer after an on foot chase.
