An icon of the rock\u2019n\u2019roll era is back in South Yorkshire this week, as Marty Wilde takes the stage in Rotherham on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wilde, who\u2019s been performing in the UK since the mid 1950\u2019s, is making his one stop in South Yorkshire at Rotherham\u2019s Civic Theatre as part of his current tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cTouring is almost like a natural thing for me, I don\u2019t work as much anymore, but it\u2019s like a lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wilde has regularly toured since the start of his career, with his first appearance in South Yorkshire being at the Empire Theatre in Sheffield in 1957.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rock and roller\u2019s audience have grown up with him over the years, and the Civic\u2019s intimate set up provides the perfect place for them to interact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said: \u201cIn the old days you had thousands of screaming teenagers, and I don\u2019t get them anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI talk to the audience and we laugh together really, the audience I think are much more appreciative these days, back in the old days they could barely hear you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
