{"id":71571,"date":"2025-03-03T11:20:22","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T11:20:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=71571"},"modified":"2025-03-03T15:52:22","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T15:52:22","slug":"the-fa-kicks-off-new-campaign-supporting-women-and-girls-in-football","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/03\/03\/the-fa-kicks-off-new-campaign-supporting-women-and-girls-in-football\/","title":{"rendered":"FA kicks off new campaign supporting women and girls in football"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The England Football Association&#8217;s latest campaign, <em>Made for this Game<\/em>, pitches football as an inclusive sport where women and girls can belong through equal opportunities and access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sue Day, Director of Women\u2019s Football the FA, said: \u201cWe\u2019ve created Made for This Game to reiterate a clear message to every woman and girl in the country, that no matter your age, ability or background, football is a sport where you belong.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The campaign was initially launched last week on 26 February, the day of England\u2019s UEFA Women\u2019s Nations League meeting with Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u2018goal\u2019 is to continue the drive to unlock equal opportunities for all women and girls to access, participate and thrive in football, whilst showing it is a sport where they belong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"454\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-3-1024x454.png\" alt=\"Image credit: FA\" class=\"wp-image-71589\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-3-980x434.png 980w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/image-3-480x213.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Image source: FA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Made for this Game<\/em> kick starts with the <em>Biggest Ever Football Sess<\/em>ion on Friday 7 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schools across the country will be holding football sessions specifically for girls during lunchtime and before or after school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year 5,000 schools took part in the scheme, including many in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows the success of the FA\u2019s previous campaign, <em>Let Girls Play<\/em>, which began in October 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.englandfootball.com\/articles\/2025\/Feb\/26\/made-for-this-game-campaign-launched-girls-womens-football-20252602#:~:text=The%20evolution%20follows%20the%20success,Higher%20(2024%2D28)\">According to the FA<\/a>, <em>Let Girls Play <\/em>led to a 56% increase in the number of women and girls playing football.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;The friends you make in football, are definitely friends for life.&quot; Lionesses (@Lionesses) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Lionesses\/status\/1895383687950131426?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 28, 2025<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Molly Wilson, Football Development Officer for Women and Girls at Sheffield and Hallamshire County Football Association, said: \u201cThe previous campaign seemed like girls had to ask for permission to play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to give women and girls in South Yorkshire more encouragement to get involved as football was made for everyone!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Day said: \u201cWhile so much progress has been made to create opportunities for women and girls in football, we know there is so much more to do, so the hard work to create true equality across the game continues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, a survey by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womeninfootball.co.uk\/news\/2024\/06\/19\/89-of-women-in-football-have-experienced-discrimination-at-work,-but-survey-reveals-surge-of-optimism-about-gender-equality-in-the-game\/\">Women In Football<\/a> found that 89% of women said that they experienced discrimination working in the sport.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lionesses took to Instagram to show their support for the new campaign, their caption said: \u201cOn and off the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cA space to just be you.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The England Football Association&#8217;s latest campaign, Made for this Game, pitches football as an inclusive sport where women and girls can belong through equal opportunities and access.
