{"id":71552,"date":"2025-03-03T11:07:23","date_gmt":"2025-03-03T11:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=71552"},"modified":"2025-03-03T14:21:18","modified_gmt":"2025-03-03T14:21:18","slug":"delicious-names-dished-up-for-baby-llama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2025\/03\/03\/delicious-names-dished-up-for-baby-llama\/","title":{"rendered":"Delicious names dished up for baby llama"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&#8216;Sandwich&#8217;, &#8216;Chickpea&#8217; and &#8216;Banana&#8217; are just some of the names that have been suggested in a contest to name a baby llama at a Sheffield farm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest arrival was born at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.welcometosheffield.co.uk\/content\/attractions\/graves-park\/\">Graves Park Animal Farm<\/a> at the end of January to mum, Nancy.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Graves Park Animal Farm Llama Naming Contest\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KasdFBLMUbQ?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The park announced the contest on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/gravesparkanimalfarm\/posts\/pfbid0ck7QgrqbXJx2bPQamaf23d6yoxGXx97kPXmuZCqEtbe5b1FDWmEcUKZAieF5Hbizl?locale=en_GB\">Facebook<\/a> on 26 February and there are now over 450 comments on the post, with a wide range of names suggested.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The names of the new llama&#8217;s siblings, Lettuce and Hummus, inspired many of the comments, with &#8216;Baba Ganoush&#8217;, &#8216;Couscous&#8217; and &#8216;Pita&#8217; each suggested several times.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_7400-min-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_7400-min-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/IMG_7400-min-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Hummus is another one of the cria born this year at the animal farm. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Others leaned into Sheffield&#8217;s history for inspiration &#8211; &#8216;Hendos&#8217; was suggested by one commenter and &#8216;Endcliffe&#8217; by another.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield resident, Tina Corker, said: \u201cHendos because he\u2019s dark and made in Sheffield just like our famous relish! I\u2019m sure it\u2019d be fabulous with Hummus and Lettuce.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winner of the contest will be invited to the park to meet the baby and his herd.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The llamas at the park live alongside some of the rarest farm animals in the country, including Tamworth Pigs, Highland cattle and Jacob sheep.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new addition is joining over 20 llamas kept at the farm and across their satellite locations around Sheffield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A baby llama is known as a &#8216;cria&#8217;
