A netball team providing sports opportunities for young women with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), is calling for more opportunities to be created in South Yorkshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Net4All<\/a> was first set up in 2019 by Helen Thorneloe, from Sheffield Concord Netball Club<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It was set up initially as a \u2018trial run\u2019, to see if there was a want or need for people with intellectual disabilities to play netball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ms Thorneloe was inspired to set up the team after seeing the lack of netball opportunities for her niece Jackie, who is autistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The team offers an inclusive environment with lenient and adaptable coaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jill Newbolt, one of the head coaches who helped to start the team, said: \u201cIt\u2019s about these young women being visible and valued in the netball world and not being hidden away. I think it\u2019s given them confidence but it\u2019s bigger than that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ms Thorneloe added: \u201cNetball is great but it\u2019s a small part of what we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “It\u2019s socialisation, it\u2019s playing as a team, learning to win and lose but also it\u2019s coming and feeling comfortable with the group.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
