{"id":69327,"date":"2024-12-06T16:29:35","date_gmt":"2024-12-06T16:29:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=69327"},"modified":"2024-12-06T16:50:36","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T16:50:36","slug":"christmas-tree-festival-returns-to-sheffield-cathedral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/12\/06\/christmas-tree-festival-returns-to-sheffield-cathedral\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas tree festival returns to Sheffield Cathedral"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Local groups have been able to promote their work through a Christmas tree festival this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival, which takes place at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldcathedral.org\/\">Sheffield Cathedral<\/a>, is the fifth of its kind and is designed to promote the work of local groups in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival includes 42 six-foot Christmas trees, all decorated by local groups, alongside the Cathedral\u2019s three traditional trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ben Rossi, one of the organisers behind the festival, said: \u201cEach tree is individually decorated and it just makes the Cathedral look beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-soundcloud wp-block-embed-soundcloud\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ben Rossi Interview Excerpt by Evans\" width=\"1080\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F1975332587&#038;show_artwork=true&#038;maxheight=1000&#038;maxwidth=1080\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The contributors include charities, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldchildrens.nhs.uk\/\">Sheffield Children\u2019s Hospital<\/a>, community groups and local businesses.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most are from Sheffield, with a few contributing from Doncaster, Rotherham and Nottinghamshire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Rossi said: \u201cThese community groups and charities use this as a chance to raise awareness of the excellent work they do in their community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visitors to the festival are encouraged to vote for their favourite tree, with the winning group receiving a cash prize to help support their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trees are sourced locally as well, from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whirlowhallfarm.org\/\">Whirlow Farm Education Trust<\/a> In a bid to support another local community group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re then chipped and recycled following the festival\u2019s conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The festival runs until Tuesday 12 December and is free to visit at Sheffield Cathedral.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local groups have been able to promote their work through a Christmas tree festival this month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":194,"featured_media":69344,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[2027,2033,598,2032,9,338,348],"class_list":["post-69327","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-cathedral","tag-charities","tag-christmas","tag-christmas-trees","tag-sheffield","tag-south-yorkshire","tag-trees"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
