A rare opportunity to purchase\u00a0iconic costumes from past productions, including\u00a0Shakespeare\u00a0to\u00a0Standing at the Sky\u2019s Edge are being offered to the public by Sheffield Theatres.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clothing sale will be held at the Crucible <\/a>theatre on Saturday 18 May with a wide range of items for all budgets. The items include modern clothing, period replicas, vintage pieces, and theatrical costumes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funds raised will be used to maintain the wardrobe store house in the Crucible, and enable the creation of more bespoke costumes for future productions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each year, Sheffield Theatres<\/a> welcome 400,000 through their doors and is one of the few remaining regional producing theatres which employs a large costume making department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Debbie Gamble, Head of Wardrobe at Sheffield Theatres, said: \u201cWe are excited to share some of the treasures we\u2019ve kept in the theatre over recent years, and what better way to welcome the public in to our building that with a clothing sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With vintage stores and charity shop fashion becoming ever so popular, particularly with the high student residence in the city, we wanted to offer the chance for people to discover unique fashions that won\u2019t be found anywhere else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As well as everyday clothing such as jeans, dresses and coats, we have plenty on the other end of the scale – including a full frog costume which would be great at a festival! There are a range of items suitable for both on stage and off, so we welcome everyone to have a rummage and find some hidden gems.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sale will be held in the Crucible Rehearsal Room from 10am – 4pm, and Centre Stage and Prestige Members<\/strong><\/a> are invited to arrive at 9am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is not ticketed, so doors will be open to the public via the main Crucible entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
