{"id":56050,"date":"2024-03-18T13:46:04","date_gmt":"2024-03-18T13:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=56050"},"modified":"2024-03-20T11:29:03","modified_gmt":"2024-03-20T11:29:03","slug":"barnsley-man-hid-heroin-under-his-false-teeth-during-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/03\/18\/barnsley-man-hid-heroin-under-his-false-teeth-during-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"Barnsley man hid heroin under his false teeth during arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A Barnsley man who hid wraps of heroin under his false teeth has been jailed for four and a half years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jamie Lloyd, 38, of Castle Street, Barnsley, swallowed the drugs as police officers drove him to  custody suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The known drug offender was taken to hospital and was found in possession of over 90 wraps of Class A drugs, \u00a3700 in cash and two mobile phones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An investigation found Lloyd was involved in dealing heroin and crack cocaine worth over \u00a3900 in Barnsley town centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sgt Steve Newton said: \u201cDrug dealing, and drug supply will not be tolerated in Barnsley.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lloyd was arrested on February 8 after officers patrolling Barnsley spotted a red Volkswagen Golf struggling to navigate the snowy conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They followed the vehicle along Sheffield Road and officers witnessed Lloyd, who was known to police, leave the vehicle to get onto a bus, before arresting him. While in custody, they carried out a full-body search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sgt Newton said: \u201cThe consequences of drugs are horrendous, they ruin people\u2019s lives and families\u2019 lives and lead to the exploitation of vulnerable children and adults, as well as lead to serious and violent crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIdentifying those involved and carrying out stop searches enables us to disrupt the drug supply and bring those responsible before the courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are stronger with our community\u2019s help, and anyone with concerns should report it to us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lloyd was sentenced at Crown Court last week (Friday 8 March).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Barnsley man who hid wraps of heroin under his false teeth has been jailed for four and a half years.
