{"id":55987,"date":"2024-03-18T13:52:05","date_gmt":"2024-03-18T13:52:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=55987"},"modified":"2024-03-18T16:39:10","modified_gmt":"2024-03-18T16:39:10","slug":"we-tried-the-worst-rated-kebab-in-sheffield-so-you-dont-have-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2024\/03\/18\/we-tried-the-worst-rated-kebab-in-sheffield-so-you-dont-have-to\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield kebab shop food hygiene rating drops to zero"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The food hygiene rating at a Sheffield kebab shop has dropped from one to zero after mouse droppings and mould were found on the premises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adnan&#8217;s Fried Chicken on West Street, which serves up kebabs, fried chicken, pizzas, burgers have been told &#8220;urgent improvements are necessary&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the criticism from the Food Standards Agency violations, the takeaway remains a popular food outlet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An inspection In November 2022, found high-risk foods including mayonnaise were stored at temperatures of over eight degrees, which can increase the growth of harmful bacteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January 2024, Adnan\u2019s food hygiene rating dropped to zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Google reviews over the years have described the establishment as &#8220;absolutely disgusting\u201d, a &#8220;plague-infested hell hole\u201d and \u201ctruly atrocious\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield Wire investigated the reviews and reporters tried the kebab revealing our findings in a video podcast titled \u201cSheffield Taste Test Trials\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"We Tried the Dirtiest Takeaway in Sheffield! Sheffield Taste Trials: Pilot Episode\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EOT56SmfJDc?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, we explored our food options from one of Adnan&#8217;s three potential websites, but when we arrived, the menu and prices did not seem to match. We opted for popular choices such as a doner kebab, chicken nuggets with cheesy chips, a vegetarian pizza, and a cheeseburger with garlic mayonnaise. We were pleasantly greeted, although it was quiet as we seemed to be Adan\u2019s first customers of the evening at around 5:30 pm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chicken nuggets with cheesy chips were generously portioned but it wasn&#8217;t easy to differentiate between the mayonnaise and cheese. The chips were quite dry and clumped together, but it was not enough to put us off. Up next, the burger. It was not a favourite among us. It was flat, with a thin patty, old salad, and covered in a lot of mayonnaise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"360\" height=\"166\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_5547.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-56342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_5547.png 360w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_5547-300x138.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of likeness to the online reviews, we found that the doner kebab was the best fit. It was extremely dry and had a crunchy texture. It was unlike any kebab we had eaten before. It was hard to distinguish the meat from the naan due to the dryness. However, it did not prevent us from trying the last meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, we tried the vegetarian pizza which contained mushrooms, onion, peppers, sweetcorn and olives.
