A lot of people do need that support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHonestly it will be such a surreal feeling knowing that I\u2019ve contributed towards helping loads of people who need it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His sister, Holly Roberts, 26, was born 12 weeks premature and her brain was not fully developed, she is now non-verbal and wheelchair bound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their family have had to make sacrifices to care for her with mum Leola Roberts, 50, leaving her job to become a full time carer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0505.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-53438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0505.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0505-980x735.jpg 980w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IMG_0505-480x360.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Roberts family (Source: Pierce Roberts)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Roberts said: \u201cWe all get on lovely as a family, it\u2019s never been a bad thing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHolly\u2019s just always been my sister, she hasn\u2019t been anything else but my sister.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Roberts said they also had to build an accessible ramp outside their house, but knows that not everybody would be able to afford to do this so wants to raise money to help people living with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has currently raised \u00a3280 of his \u00a3500 goal on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/sheffield-half-marathon-to-raise-money-for-scope\">GoFundMe<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noa Jorge, Public Fundraising Coordinator at disability equality charity Scope, said: \u201cWe\u2019re immensely grateful to Pierce for giving up his time to raise money for disabled people and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLife costs a lot more when you&#8217;re disabled, so in the worst cost of living crisis in a generation, our work supporting disabled people is more important than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After being inspired by his sister\u2019s struggle with cerebral palsy, a man has decided to fundraise for Scope by running the Sheffield Half Marathon in April.
