Creative Ashley Holmes presented the exhibition as a constellation of structures that encourage contemplation, rest and listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Holmes, from Sheffield, is the host of <em>Tough Matter<\/em>, a monthly radio show on NTS Radio, and is also a resident on local station Mondo Radio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The work amplifies the sounds of the architecture of caves, hills and public spaces in the city and makes reference to the influences of experimental studio techniques of popular Black music of the 21st century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/skylarking-3-rotated.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51629\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/skylarking-3-rotated.jpg 600w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/skylarking-3-480x640.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 600px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The exhibition is inspired by Black music of the 21st century. Source: Tabitha Wilson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Holmes said: \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of musical references \u2013 the main one being the title of the exhibition, which is borrowed from the title of an album by an artist called Horace Andy that was released on Studio One records in the early 1970s.\u201d He began working on the project in August last year and began making field visits in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that the research he\u2019s doing surrounds race and the environment, and \u201cwhere and how we can think about the connections between&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talking about holding the exhibition in Sheffield, Mr Holmes said it\u2019s a \u201creally important part of the work and part of the project&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think bar one or two people, all of our collaborators are Sheffield-based as well. It&#8217;s felt really lovely.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The launch event was attended by Lord Mayor Colin Ross, and featured work from collaborators Wemmy Ogunyankin, Bel Odawa, Seigfried Komidashi, Joseph June Bond and Akeem Balogun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRecording the story with Bel Odawa and Ashley in particular was enjoyable,&#8221; said Mr Balogun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe also travelled to Speedwell Cavern, and there was a beautiful moment where Komidashi played the sax in the cave. It was special.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Exhibition attendee Rob Hughes, 22, from Doncaster said: &#8220;It\u2019s really interesting.
