{"id":49187,"date":"2023-12-08T15:16:31","date_gmt":"2023-12-08T15:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=49187"},"modified":"2023-12-08T15:16:32","modified_gmt":"2023-12-08T15:16:32","slug":"from-tramlines-to-the-town-hall-sheffields-student-sofa-ad-wins-oscar-of-higher-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/12\/08\/from-tramlines-to-the-town-hall-sheffields-student-sofa-ad-wins-oscar-of-higher-education\/","title":{"rendered":"From Tramlines to the Town Hall: Sheffield&#8217;s student sofa ad wins &#8216;Oscar of Higher Education&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Sheffield Universities beat fierce competition and received national acclaim for a campaign which saw students take a tour of Sheffield on a sofa. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University set aside competitive goals to as they aimed to market the city as an attractive home for students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Times Higher Education Award for Outstanding Marketing\/Communications Team was given for the &#8216;Sheffield: Your University City&#8217; campaign last night at the ACC in Liverpool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The universities wanted to change perceptions after &#8216;target demographic areas had low awareness of Sheffield as a potential study destination.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/THEAwards?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#THEAwards<\/a> trophy for Outstanding Marketing\/Communications Team goes to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sheffhallamuni?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@sheffhallamuni<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sheffielduni?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@sheffielduni<\/a> for their collaborative campaign with the local authority to market the city of Sheffield to prospective students. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hPGCmRcFPY\">pic.twitter.com\/hPGCmRcFPY<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Times Higher Education (@timeshighered) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/timeshighered\/status\/1732894714850947095?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 7, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dan Barcroft, Director of Student Recruitment at the University of Sheffield, said: &#8220;We are incredibly proud that our innovative and collaborative campaign with our partners has been recognised by this award.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacqui Robinson, Director of Communications and Marketing at Sheffield Hallam University, said: \u201cAnyone who has spent time in Sheffield knows how welcoming it is, and how important our universities are to the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Thanks to this campaign, we have been able to highlight how Sheffield is a great place to study, live and ultimately to start a career \u2013 it has been a great success for us, and for our city.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 30 second advert, which saw three prospective students sat on a sofa in some of Sheffield&#8217;s most recognisable places, beat out campaigns by Norland College, the University of Nottingham, University of Portsmouth, London Metropolitan University and Queen University Belfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sheffield - Your University City\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UMjoBfveiaw?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sheffield: Your University City campaign video<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel said of the winners: &#8220;The campaign clearly delivered significant positive impact on the city and both universities in terms of attracting students to study in Sheffield.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield is home to over 60,000 students from over 150 countries with \u00a3313m brought to local economy by international students, according to a report by Universities UK International and the Higher Education Policy Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheffield Hallam University also won the award for International Collaboration of the Year for their partnership with the United Nations&#8217; International Organization for Migration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Sheffield Universities beat fierce competition and received national acclaim for a campaign which saw students take a tour of Sheffield on a sofa.
