Beau Greaves has defended her decision to choose Lakeside over Alexandra Palace this year as she aims for back-to-back world titles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 19-year-old from Doncaster, nicknamed \u2018Beau ‘n\u2019 Arrow\u2019, chose to defend her WDF Women\u2019s World Darts Championship title in Surrey this week instead of entering the PDC World Darts Championship, which begins in London next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was following the PDC\u2019s decision to prevent players from competing in both tournaments back in September<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to TungstenTales<\/a> after her first-round win over Lorraine Hyde on Monday, she said: \u201cThis is a ladies\u2019 world championship, it\u2019s got that name on it. The PDC one doesn\u2019t, it\u2019s a men\u2019s world to me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greaves cruised to the Quarter-Finals of the tournament after a 2-0 victory over the Scot. She is due to face American Paula Murphy this evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greaves\u2019 decision to snub Ally Pally in favour of Lakeside this year has led to much debate across the darts world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former BDO World Champion Mark Webster admitted Greaves was taking a risk in her choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Love the Darts <\/em>podcast<\/a> in November, he said: \u201cWhether it is the right decision or not, I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a gamble. There\u2019s \u00a325,000 up for grabs for winning [at Lakeside]. There\u2019s never a guarantee, but she\u2019s a big front-runner.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Greaves was, however, defended by fellow competitor Fallon Sherrock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicknamed the \u2018Queen of the Palace\u2019, Sherrock rocked the darts world in 2019 after becoming first woman to take victories at the PDC tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to Live Darts TV<\/a>, Sherrock \u2013 who chose Ally Pally over Lakeside \u2013 said: \u201cI completely understand her decision. She wants to be multiple world champion, and whilst she\u2019s got the game, go do it!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WDF World Darts Championship Finals take place this Sunday, whilst the PDC World Darts Championship commences next Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
