This year\u2019s theme is \u2018let&#8217;s talk about <a href=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/04\/24\/sheffield-school-introduces-road-closures-to-tackle-dangerous-speeding\/\">speed<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brake.org.uk\/get-involved\/take-action\/mybrake\/knowledge-centre\/uk-road-safety\">1766 people were killed in road traffic accidents<\/a> in the UK, and 28,941 were seriously injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A spokesperson for the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership (SYSRP), said: &#8220;We fully support Brake\u2019s campaign which ultimately comes down to saving lives on our roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Excess\/ inappropriate speed contributes to around 27% of collisions here in S Yorks. Our aim is to influence road user behaviour but also ensure roads, roadsides &amp; vehicles are safe. Road safety is a shared responsibility.
