Thanks so much to the fans for coming out, they were absolutely brilliant tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The game was part of the #HerGameToo campaign, which focuses on raising awareness of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HerGameToo?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\">sexism<\/a> in sport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rotherham United Women FC host their first game at the New York Stadium for #HERGAMETOO\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZbqCLiRK49M?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hannah Crossley, a <a href=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/a-guide-to-womens-football-clubs-in-south-yorkshire\/\">Rotherham<\/a> United #HerGameToo ambassador, explained the importance of the occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hannah said: \u201cIt was a celebration of women\u2019s football and women\u2019s sport in general and how far the women\u2019s game has come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe hope this will become a signal event and the start of even more great things to come here at Rotherham United and #HerGameToo.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lori-Anne Tart, the captain and figurehead of the Rotherham side, said the campaign will open up new opportunities for <a href=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/joy-and-challenge-why-do-girls-want-to-play-football\/\">girls<\/a> getting into football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c#HerGameToo is such a massive campaign and it\u2019s so nice to see that young girls can come and see things like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lori-Anne said: \u201cI started off at such a young age and there was nothing for girls, there were no <a href=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/girls-development-squads-at-risk-of-being-scrapped-across-uk\/\">opportunities<\/a> whatsoever outside of a boys\u2019 team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHopefully we can get some more games here next season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"561\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.33.34.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47017\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.33.34.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.33.34-980x537.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.33.34-480x263.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Captain of Rotherham United Women FC, Lori-Anne Tart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The team play in the East Midlands Womens Regional Football <a href=\"https:\/\/fulltime.thefa.com\/displayTeam.html?divisionseason=600464423&amp;teamID=447186545\">League<\/a> Premier Division, which is a tier six division. They finished sixth out of the nine teams, winning five games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jarvis joined the club last February and has witnessed the team\u2019s growth first-hand. The team usually plays at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.footballgroundmap.com\/ground\/roundwood-sports-complex\/parkgate\">Roundwood<\/a> Sports Complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cWhen I came into the team, we were training once a week on a seven-a-side pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing honest, it was a challenge in the first few months just to get a team out of 11 players to fulfil the fixtures and get to the end of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis has been the first season where our players haven\u2019t had to pay to play because we\u2019ve had the sponsorship to cover it and a lot of support from the Community Trust.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rotherham United Community Sports Trust is the \u2018charitable arm\u2019 of the women\u2019s team that helps delivers initiatives across the Rotherham community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.15.32-2-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-47013\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.15.32-2-980x735.jpeg 980w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2023-05-12-at-15.15.32-2-480x360.jpeg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The New York Stadium<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the help of the trust, the club staff has increased from three members to nine.
