Labour takes the formerly Independent seat, marking the second Labour gain so far in Barnsley’s local elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cllr Margaret Sheard, who won today’s vote in Monk Bretton, lost her seat in 2019 after 20 years as a Councillor. She said: “Despite previously losing my seat, I’ve never stopped working. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’ve never had so many people in all these years coming up to me to tell me they support me. You can’t get better than that,” she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She is hoping to raise awareness on dementia during her tenure, having opened a dementia cafe in her ward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You can’t do what you want to do without a voice. And now I’ve got that,” she told Sheffield Wire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
