{"id":45159,"date":"2023-03-20T11:50:26","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T11:50:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=45159"},"modified":"2023-03-20T12:13:57","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T12:13:57","slug":"sheffield-footballer-will-climb-ben-nevis-for-alzheimers-and-diabetes-charities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/03\/20\/sheffield-footballer-will-climb-ben-nevis-for-alzheimers-and-diabetes-charities\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield footballer will climb Ben Nevis for Alzheimer&#8217;s and diabetes charities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A Sheffield born footballer plans to climb Ben Nevis to raise money for charity, alongside his childhood best friend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jake Hull, who currently plays for Buxton FC on loan from Rotherham United, will climb the highest mountain peak in the United Kingdom in order to raise money for Alzheimer&#8217;s Society and Diabetes UK. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will be joined by lifelong friend Harrison Foulstone; they have been friends since playing in the Sheffield United academy together as youngsters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Hull, now aged 21, revealed how important his &#8216;best friend&#8217; is to him ahead of their planned climb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: &#8220;We used to play for Sheffield United Academy, so I joined when I was six and he was already there. We&#8217;ve been best mates literally all the way through. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We do everything together, like every Sunday, we go to the cinema as we&#8217;ve got one of those Unlimited cards! All my mates have got girlfriends but we just do everything together.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Have a read of that if you get a chance please\ud83d\udc4d\ud83c\udffb <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s6yFhVvjAK\">https:\/\/t.co\/s6yFhVvjAK<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Jake Hull (@Jake_Hull06) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Jake_Hull06\/status\/1635976465618436097?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 15, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The pair became inspired after stumbling upon social media clips of others scaling the mountain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both admitted it looks &#8220;ridiculously hard&#8221;, but that they are willing to face the challenge in order to raise money for charities close to their hearts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Hull said: &#8220;For me, someone in my family is affected by diabetes. They&#8217;ve had to change their treatments quite often, they have to take so much with them when they go on holidays. It&#8217;s a nightmare for that person!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Harrison&#8217;s nan was really affected by Alzheimer&#8217;s too, to the point where she didn&#8217;t remember who anyone in the family was.
