An animal sanctuary have shared how pleased they are after one of their dogs made it through emergency surgery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyson the bulldog arrived at Mill House Animal Sanctuary with a retained testicle, which needed operating on urgently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kelly Simms, manager of the sanctuary, said: \u201cWe\u2019re happy, very happy. If you don\u2019t get the retained testicle sorted it can lead to cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tyson was taken to the sanctuary after his owner had a motorbike accident, which meant he had to give up work and could no longer afford to feed him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Simms said she remembered seeing Tyson for the first time and discovering his condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said: \u201cI looked at him and said \u2018oh, has he been castrated?\u2019 and the owner said \u2018no, he\u2019s got a retained testicle.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd I was like, \u2018oh my God, why haven\u2019t you got it sorted\u2019 and he said that he didn\u2019t have the funds.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Simms set up a GoFundMe<\/a> to raise money for Tyson\u2019s operation, aiming for \u00a3500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, it raised \u00a3100, and the sanctuary had to cover the rest of the costs themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Simms said Mills House Animal Sanctuary is ‘just a small charity,’ and gets most of its money from donations and sales in its store in Crystal Peaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said this support is essential: \u201cIt all helps. It all adds up in our eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But even if the cost of the operation was high, for Ms Simms it was worth it for Tyson, who has now gone to live with a new family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said: \u201cHe\u2019s an absolutely beautiful dog, I\u2019m just so happy that he\u2019s gone to someone who\u2019s going to love and care for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll be better for him after a big operation to be in a home environment instead of a kennel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
