{"id":43873,"date":"2023-02-20T13:18:12","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T13:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=43873"},"modified":"2023-02-20T13:18:24","modified_gmt":"2023-02-20T13:18:24","slug":"sheffield-united-raise-5000-for-prostate-cancer-research-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2023\/02\/20\/sheffield-united-raise-5000-for-prostate-cancer-research-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield United raise \u00a35,000 for Prostate Cancer Research Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>More than \u00a35000 has been raised for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldhospitalscharity.org.uk\/\">Sheffield Hospitals Charity<\/a> and their Prostate Cancer Research Fund, by one of the city&#8217;s football clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.matchwornshirt.com\/event\/11-02-2023-sheffield-united-swansea-city\">Shirts <\/a>worn by Sheffield United footballers, including  Billy Sharp and Iliman Ndiaye, were placed into an online auction after their game against Swansea earlier this month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gareth Aston, CEO of the Sheffield Hospitals Charity, said: \u201cIt\u2019s really great that the Sheffield teaching hospitals have the ability to conduct this pioneering research that could potentially change many thousands of lives across South Yorkshire and many thousands and possibly millions of lives across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/db3fa52a-c2bf-4654-aca2-05a95e09f037-695x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43928\" width=\"334\" height=\"492\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">(Credit: Sheffield Hospitals Charity<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The shirts from the auction have come from the charity\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldhospitalscharity.org.uk\/event\/united-in-love-programme-donation\">United in Love for our NHS<\/a> weekend, which took place during the Sheffield United vs Swansea match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The charity&#8217;s logo was displayed on the Sheffield United shirts for the game against Swansea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr Aston said the funding was a necessity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added: \u201cI think more than ever, it\u2019s important that we are able to get behind and support the patients and staff at this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an extremely difficult time for everyone.
