{"id":43224,"date":"2022-12-09T11:35:44","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T11:35:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=43224"},"modified":"2023-08-07T12:19:01","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T11:19:01","slug":"duff-wins-manager-of-the-month-ahead-of-barnsleys-clash-with-oxford","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/12\/09\/duff-wins-manager-of-the-month-ahead-of-barnsleys-clash-with-oxford\/","title":{"rendered":"Duff wins Manager of the Month ahead of Barnsley&#8217;s clash with Oxford"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Michael Duff may have won the League One Manager of the Month award for November but acknowledges the work he has to do at Barnsley is far from complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duff said he was pleased to win the award yet warned against complacency ahead of the Tykes\u2019 away game against Oxford United tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cIt\u2019s always nice to be recognised, but I\u2019m not going to sit back and think \u2018right, that\u2019s it, I\u2019ve done it, I\u2019ve cracked it\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about the so-called \u2018curse\u2019 of Manager of the Month, Duff joked: \u201cWe\u2019re not going to bother going to Oxford, we\u2019ll just take a 2-0 defeat and then crack on next week!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo, I am superstitious, but not that superstitious.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udfc6 Introducing your <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SkyBetLeagueOne?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SkyBetLeagueOne<\/a> November Manager of the Month!<\/p>&mdash; Barnsley FC (@BarnsleyFC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BarnsleyFC\/status\/1601094296152719364?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes after Barnsley&#8217;s good form in the last month, winning five out of six of their last games, which has seen them rise to fourth in the league table. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This included a 2-1 win over promotion rivals Peterborough last Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Barnsley&#8217;s success, Duff said: &#8220;We started the game on Friday on the front foot and looked like a team that was confident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The feeling afterwards in the dressing room was really good, so hopefully they&#8217;ve bottled that up and can carry on into Saturday.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although he said that Oxford would be a tough game: &#8220;They&#8217;re one of the better teams in the league, the league position doesn&#8217;t tell you that, but history tells you that.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oxford are currently fourteenth in the table, having had a poor start to the season.
