{"id":42534,"date":"2022-12-02T11:33:51","date_gmt":"2022-12-02T11:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=42534"},"modified":"2022-12-02T11:45:02","modified_gmt":"2022-12-02T11:45:02","slug":"sheffield-wig-bank-hosting-fundraiser-for-new-salon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/12\/02\/sheffield-wig-bank-hosting-fundraiser-for-new-salon\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield wig bank hosting fundraiser for new salon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A charity founder has organised an event for new facilities because the living room she operates out of is now \u2018bursting at the seams\u2019.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hayley Ekwubiri, 34, of Intake, owns the <a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.self-empowered.co.uk\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.self-empowered.co.uk\/\">Self Empowered<\/a> wig bank which provides free wigs to those experiencing hair loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Ekwubiri said: \u201cIt\u2019s a misconception that hair loss isn\u2019t a big deal, but hair is a huge part of our identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSo just because someone doesn\u2019t have biological hair doesn\u2019t mean they shouldn\u2019t have a great experience at the hairdressers and feel empowered in their own skin.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After previously working for a wig maker, Ms Ekwubiri opened her hair charity in her garden shed a year ago but has since moved to a new house where the salon is now based.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said: \u201cPeople come to me for a wig and ask to be made beautiful again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut I tell them that&#8217;s not what I&#8217;m doing.
