{"id":42435,"date":"2022-11-27T19:54:30","date_gmt":"2022-11-27T19:54:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=42435"},"modified":"2022-11-27T19:54:33","modified_gmt":"2022-11-27T19:54:33","slug":"steelers-seal-dramatic-penalty-win-against-panthers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/11\/27\/steelers-seal-dramatic-penalty-win-against-panthers\/","title":{"rendered":"Steelers seal dramatic penalty win against Panthers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Steelers fans had been warned of a frantic opening 10 minutes by Aaron Fox in last night&#8217;s fixture against long standing rivals the Nottingham Panthers, and he wasn&#8217;t wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the opening minutes of the game Notts&#8217; Duggie Lagrone who was knocked unconscious following an awkward collision with a Steelers player. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully though, he was seen talking with medical staff and gave a reassuring thumbs up to the applauding Steelers and Panthers fans.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rivalry was put to one side as Steelers&#8217; Danny Kristo brought the stretcher to the then-unconscious Notts defender, who thankfully did not require hospital treatment, and, reassuringly, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PanthersIHC\/status\/1596650641853595648\">travelled home with his Panthers teammates.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Duggie Lagrone receives standing ovation after being knocked unconscious\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ycjVvdA_yVo?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lagrone has only just returned from a head injury following a game against Manchester Storm so concern from the sidelines was justifiable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steelers head coach Aaron Fox admitted after the game that the incident dampened proceedings in the opening exchanges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: &#8220;It absolutely did suck the life out of the first period.  But we were outstanding. We only gave up two shots and suffocated them defensively.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second period saw Steelers score two goals in quick succession.  Danny Kristo, who <a href=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/11\/26\/steelers-prepared-for-panthers-desperate-hockey\/\">spoke exclusively to Sheffield Wire before the match,<\/a> was the first to put a puck in the back of the net before Piche doubled the lead for the Steelers.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chances grew in number for Fox&#8217;s players but derbies are never straight forward. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Corey Nielson&#8217;s appointment as new head coach for the Panthers, this fixture was never going to stick to script.
