Karen&#039;s Diner\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V-zUpkPnnYI?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Karen\u2019s offers a dining experience like no other, where patrons could be randomly chosen to spin the \u2018wheel of misfortune\u2019, featuring tasks ranging from charades, karaoke and \u2018fashion catwalk\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the worst forfeit on offer is the \u2018interrupting Karen\u2019, where two random people inside the diner from different tables must switch seats for several minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Customers celebrating their birthday will be treated to a rousing rendition of the house favourite, \u201cHappy Birthday, F**k Off!\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_40930\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-40930\" class=\"wp-image-40930 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Karens-diner-wheel.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Karens-diner-wheel.jpeg 240w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Karens-diner-wheel-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-40930\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The dreaded &#8216;wheel of misfortune&#8217;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The staff include a mixture of those with theatre backgrounds, and some who generally have the right character and flair to work in such a place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look for people with a bloody good sense of humour, and somebody who has a little bit of sparkle about them,\u201d Paul said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t want people acting in Karen\u2019s, we want people to be a Karen themselves, so we need a natural person with some flair.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The diner &#8211; which serves a wide range of burgers, sides and cocktails &#8211; has generally received rave reviews since opening last month, with customers rarely leaving dissatisfied with the unique experience.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-40931 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Karens-diner-dukebox.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Karens-diner-dukebox.jpeg 240w, https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Karens-diner-dukebox-225x300.jpeg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had two people come in who I don\u2019t think had any idea what they were walking into, and I don\u2019t blame them,\u201d Paul said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost people who come into Karen\u2019s Diner know exactly what to expect and it\u2019s our job not to let them down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Albeit perhaps not for the faint-hearted, there is little doubt that the vast majority who enter Karen\u2019s leave with a smile.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In recent times, many have feared being branded with the label of a \u2018Karen\u2019, yet this Sheffield restaurant embraces the tag and wears it with pride.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":38,"featured_media":40929,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_et_pb_use_builder":"","_et_pb_old_content":"","_et_gb_content_width":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[741,450,742,9],"class_list":["post-40909","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-diner","tag-food","tag-karens","tag-sheffield"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
