{"id":38938,"date":"2022-03-21T11:47:39","date_gmt":"2022-03-21T11:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=38938"},"modified":"2022-03-21T11:47:39","modified_gmt":"2022-03-21T11:47:39","slug":"borrowing-ace-meet-the-meersbrook-man-lending-out-his-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/03\/21\/borrowing-ace-meet-the-meersbrook-man-lending-out-his-dog\/","title":{"rendered":"Borrowing Ace: Meet the Meersbrook man lending out his dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man in Meersbrook has used the power of social media to help look after his fun-loving Border Collie and find a dog-friendly place to live.<\/p>\n<p>Piotr <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Obuchowski was struggling to balance the demands of raising a puppy and his job as a delivery driver on his own.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mr Obuchowski said: \u201cThe most important thing in [Ace\u2019s] life is to play outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe always wants to say hello to everyone and he likes to watch how other dogs play.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This made things difficult in the beginning of their time alone together as Mr Obuchowski had to figure out how to juggle a job as a delivery driver and life with a very social, fun-loving dog.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started to take him to work with me\u201d, said Mr Obuchowksi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I quickly realised it wasn&#8217;t the way. It was actually a bad experience for both of us, but especially for Ace because he didn\u2019t take well to travelling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38939\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38939\" class=\"wp-image-38939 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/unnamed-1-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-38939\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mr Obuchowski and his eight-month-old Border Collie, Ace.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dog, an eight-week-old Border Collie, known as Ace, stayed by the 38-year-old&#8217;s side throughout his break-up which left him without a home, truly earning him the title of man&#8217;s best friend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite struggling to find a solution to this tricky situation, Mr Obuchowski said: \u201cI never considered giving him to someone else or to a shelter, as most people suggested to me because it\u2019s \u2018only a dog\u2019. Because I like to play against the odds I decided not to listen to anyone.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAt the end of the day I want to look in the mirror and say I made the right decision.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38942\" style=\"width: 261px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38942\" class=\"wp-image-38942 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Screenshot_2022-03-17-14-45-54-56-251x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"251\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-38942\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ace didn&#8217;t take well to travelling.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using the power of social media, Mr Obuchowski put a call out on the \u2018Only in Meersbrook\u2019 group page on Facebook, three days ago, to help find an extended family for Ace.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The post was met with a fantastic response from locals, willing to borrow the eight-month-old Border Collie by taking him in on walks, or bringing him into their home when Mr Obuchowski isn&#8217;t around.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_38950\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38950\" class=\"wp-image-38950 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Ace-1-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-38950\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ace enjoying time in the park.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Joshua Waller, 42, borrowed Ace for two hours on Saturday and took him to the park.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Waller said: &#8220;I was interested in borrowing Ace as dogs are fun to play with and I don&#8217;t have my own dog. My kids also like dogs and it was a good way to spend an afternoon in the park, especially as the sun was out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It also helps out Piotr, as he gets some time to do other things.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After finding success with lending Ace to the people of Meersbrook, Mr Obuchowski also used the group to try and find a place to stay.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He was living with a friend in Nottinghamshire because he couldn&#8217;t find a landlord who accepted dogs.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIn two hours time I sorted out my biggest problems\u201d, said Mr Obuchowksi, \u201cI found a room in Meersbrook and found people who want to share Ace from time to time. Excellent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_38960\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-38960\" class=\"wp-image-38960 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Ace-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-38960\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cThe most important thing in [Ace\u2019s] life is to play outside.\u201d<\/p><\/div><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite moving back to Sheffield later this week, Mr Obuchowksi is more than happy for people to continue to borrow Ace. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0He expressed: \u201cIdeally I would like to have a few people who I can trust and rely on.
