{"id":37930,"date":"2022-02-28T12:49:30","date_gmt":"2022-02-28T12:49:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=37930"},"modified":"2022-02-28T12:49:30","modified_gmt":"2022-02-28T12:49:30","slug":"game-review-glasgow-rocks-hold-off-sheffield-sharks-in-series-leveller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2022\/02\/28\/game-review-glasgow-rocks-hold-off-sheffield-sharks-in-series-leveller\/","title":{"rendered":"Game Review: Glasgow Rocks hold off Sheffield Sharks in Series Leveller"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, the Sharks took on the Rocks at the Emirates Arena for the second time this BBL season. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-37937 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sheffieldwire.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2022\/02\/Emirates_Arena_-_Glasgow-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"329\" height=\"185\" \/> B.Braun Sheffield Sharks and The Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks have met a total of 76 times in British Basketball League matches, with the Sharks winning 75% of these games.<\/p>\n<p>The Rocks set the tone of the game and opened the scoring in the first quarter with a three pointer from Jonny Bunyan.<\/p>\n<p>The Sharks fought back with their first three pointer of the game from Devante Wallace.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_37941\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37941\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-37941\" src=\"https:\/\/awesome-shockley.77-68-72-77.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/274980077_5046858118712031_2176872022684076922_n-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-37941\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sheffield Shark&#8217;s Devante Wallace (Photo: Adam Bates Photography)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Despite the Sharks efforts, the Rocks gained the lead early on, ending the first quarter with a 21-16 score.<\/p>\n<p>The second quarter saw the Rocks gain an early 26-19 lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Sharks\u2019 Antwain Johnson helped move the game forward and shrink the gap between the score with 12 points, leading all the Sharks&#8217; scorers and bringing the game to 29-26.<\/p>\n<p>Similar to the first quarter, the Sharks could not surpass the Rocks\u2019 strong lead they had obtained from the start.<\/p>\n<p>With just over three minutes to play in the second quarter, the Sharks\u2019 Head Coach, Atiba Lyons called timeout as Rodney Glasgow Jr. received medical attention on court following a heavy fall.<\/p>\n<p>The Rocks held on tight to their lead and by halftime the score stood at 44-37, thanks to baskets from Jaycee Hillsman and Vance Johnson.<\/p>\n<p>In the second half of the game all was still to play for.<\/p>\n<p>Lyons\u2019 side had a strong start to the third quarter outscoring the Rocks 10-7 in the first five minutes.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83c\udfa5Nice finish from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kipset7?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@kipset7<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SheffieldSharks?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SheffieldSharks<\/a> look to eat into the Rocks lead!<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udcfa<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5Z3hL32KCC\">https:\/\/t.co\/5Z3hL32KCC<\/a><br \/>\n\ud83d\udcca<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/beWsnDLKe6\">https:\/\/t.co\/beWsnDLKe6<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BritishBasketball?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BritishBasketball<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6zg0SfeWjy\">pic.twitter.com\/6zg0SfeWjy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 British Basketball League (@BBLofficial) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BBLofficial\/status\/1498001311366893576?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 27, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Although there was low scoring between both teams, the Sharks looked strong throughout this quarter outscoring the Rocks 18-17. However, the Rocks still held the lead and entered the final quarter with a score of 61-55.<\/p>\n<p>The final quarter at the Emirates Arena saw the Rocks last push for a win. Braun Sheffield Sharks (@SheffieldSharks) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SheffieldSharks\/status\/1498006494658260994?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 27, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Overall, the Sharks appeared to be on the back foot the entire game, not heading into a single quarter with a lead.<\/p>\n<p>The Rocks scored 84% of free throws while the Sharks only managed 61%, a deciding factor in a game that could have gone either way.<\/p>\n<p>The Sharks entered the final quarter with hope of turning the tide, but the Rocks managed to see the game out comfortably.<\/p>\n<p>This loss for Sheffield Sharks means the regular season series between the two teams is at 1-1. The Sharks hope to regain the series lead in front of a home crowd in their next game against the Rocks in April.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the loss on Sunday, the Sharks remain hopeful that they can win the championship. Rodney Glasgow Jr. said: &#8220;We can win a championship! We were right there last week against Leicester. We can play with the best of them.
