Best of luck to Doncaster! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/GoingforitDN?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#GoingforitDN<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dDKQi16mjt\">https:\/\/t.co\/dDKQi16mjt<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NBw70FagVP\">pic.twitter.com\/NBw70FagVP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Frenchgate (@Frenchgate) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Frenchgate\/status\/1468954339603406865?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This campaign has been supported by the Team Doncaster Partnership, which is a partnership between many organisations in the city.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doncaster.gov.uk\/services\/get-involved\/show-your-support-for-the-doncaster-city-bid\">In a statement, they said<\/a>: &#8220;Achieving City Status would help attract more investment for Doncaster and improve opportunities and life chances for our residents and communities, whilst celebrating our diversity and everything that makes Doncaster so special.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is what we were told during our Doncaster Talks conversations over the last two years by local people who want to see real opportunities and ambition for future generations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Queen&#8217;s Platinum Jubilee next year, will grant city status through a competition for UK towns.<\/p>\n<p>Dan Fell, Chief Executive of Doncaster Chamber, told the Doncaster Council news page: \u201cThe bid highlights all sorts of fantastic ways that Doncaster already looks and feels like a city, including our sporting teams and facilities, rich heritage, vibrant culture and arts offering and thriving, diverse business community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Cover image credit: Samuel Wright.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A campaign to recognise Doncaster as a city has gathered support as it submits its bid through the Queen&#8217;s Platinum Jubilee.
