It follows the EFL\u2019s recent league wide support of the Stonewall campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83c\udf08 Rainbow Reds \ud83c\udf08<\/p>\n<p>\u00a9\ufe0f <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CauleyWoodrow?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CauleyWoodrow<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5jniC5v5FN\">pic.twitter.com\/5jniC5v5FN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Barnsley FC (@BarnsleyFC) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BarnsleyFC\/status\/1464598757018939400?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 27, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 2017 Stonewall survey showed that 43 percent of people within the LGBTQ+ felt sporting events were not welcoming for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rei Homer, one of the Rainbow Reds organisers, said: \u201cWe aim to create a safe space for Barnsley\u2019s LGBTQ+ supporters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe want to show that Barnsley is a welcoming place to come and watch the football and to be able to reach out to those who feel unincluded and help them come along to games.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another 2020 Stonewall study suggested that 20 percent of match-going fans felt anti-LGBTQ+ chants were harmless if used as banter. This is one of the main things the Rainbow Reds are looking to tackle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOur main aim is to educate people about certain words and phrases,\u201d Rei, 18, said. \u201cIt\u2019s about educating yourself and calling people out if they are using homophobic chants and phrases.
