RIP<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ian Bradders (@IBradders) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IBradders\/status\/1389681267042627584?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 4, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Soon after he established himself as first-choice keeper at Bramall Lane, and was regarded highly by the Blades faithful, making the most of his 135 United starts in this period.<\/p>\n<p>However, after suffering a broken arm in an Anglo-Scottish Cup clash against St Mirren in December 1979, Conroy was ruled out until the 1980-81 season, which saw United plummet into the fourth tier for the first time in the club&#8217;s history.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Without that injury he&#8217;d have been our first choice for a long time.
