{"id":32082,"date":"2021-03-22T12:53:04","date_gmt":"2021-03-22T12:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=32082"},"modified":"2021-03-22T12:53:04","modified_gmt":"2021-03-22T12:53:04","slug":"sheffield-steelers-sign-sondre-olden-ahead-of-the-2021-elite-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/03\/22\/sheffield-steelers-sign-sondre-olden-ahead-of-the-2021-elite-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield Steelers sign Sondre Olden ahead of the 2021 Elite Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ice Hockey club Sheffield Steelers have signed Norwegian international Sondre Olden ahead of the 2021 Elite Series.<\/p>\n<p>The Norwegian international, 28, had previously worked with Steelers boss, Aaron Fox at Medvescak Zagreb between 2017 and 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Olden arrives from V\u00e5lerenga having scored five goals in twenty appearances last season.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Fox expressed his delight at being reunited with Olsen: &#8220;It will be good to work with him again, we were together in Zagreb and he was a top player for me and in our League.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The winger, who stands at 6&#8217;4&#8243;, was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2010 but has spent the majority of his time playing in Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The signing will be a timely boost for the Steelers who begin their new campaign on April 3rd away at Nottingham Panthers.<\/p>\n<p>It is the latest of an influx in new signings in the past week, with the club confirming the additions of Adrian Saxrud Danielsen, Tanner Eberle and Kevin Schulze.<\/p>\n<p>The Elite Series will be contested between four teams after the previous two Elite Ice Hockey League seasons have been shelved due to the impact of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch some of Olden&#8217;s goals here.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sondre Olden goals\" width=\"1080\" height=\"608\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5bBxGN3mGHc?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ice Hockey club Sheffield Steelers have signed Norwegian international Sondre Olden ahead of the 2021 Elite Series.
