{"id":29835,"date":"2021-02-22T15:16:48","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T15:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sheffieldwire.co.uk\/?p=29835"},"modified":"2021-02-22T15:16:48","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T15:16:48","slug":"university-of-sheffield-lecturer-to-feature-in-channel-4-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sheffieldwire.co.uk\/index.php\/2021\/02\/22\/university-of-sheffield-lecturer-to-feature-in-channel-4-program\/","title":{"rendered":"University of Sheffield lecturer to feature in Channel 4 programme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Investigating Viking burials is all part of a day\u2019s work for Dr Elizabeth Craig-Atkins in this week\u2019s episode of The Great British Dig.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the second episode of the series, the crew, alongside comedian Hugh Dennis, visit Masham in North Yorkshire to explore the town&#8217;s history.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr Craig-Atkins, who has been a lecturer in human osteology at the University of Sheffield\u2019s Department of Archaeology since 2013, was first approached by the production team last summer.<br \/><br \/>\u201cThe Great British Dig has captured the public imagination for archaeology, and for me they have done a really important job of integrating local people into the archaeological process and the making of the series,\u201d said Dr Craig-Atkins. <br \/><br \/>Archaeological experts from across the country have collaborated with the programme to introduce ordinary people to the history beneath their feet. <br \/><br \/>The osteologist praised the programme for showcasing the work of archaeologists.
